If cleanliness and professionalism is key to you (which is to me), than Lady Leo's Beauty Salon is the place for you. Lady Leo's is a very credible, wholesome and well maintained hair establishment. Karen goes above and beyond the call of duty on a consistent basis with her warm demeanor and top notch coiffuring abilities. Karen makes it a priority to inform you about the products that she is putting in your hair and explains the benefits for doing so. My hair is in such a healthier and happier state since Karen has laid hands on my hair!

I first came upon Lady Leo's on craigslist. Although I was skeptical, I decided to check out the website. I read the contents of the website inside and out, looked at every picture and decided to give Karen a try. Upon my arrival, Karen told me everything that was wrong with my hair. Although she didn't sugarcoat anything, her approach was warm. She sure did give my hair the care that it so definitely needed.

After she was done (and after I stopped looking in the mirror) she told me exactly what I needed to do to get my hair back to a healthy state. Two months later, my hair grew 2 inches and was healthy.

I am forever grateful to Karen for the care she has shown me and my hair. As I get ready for my upcoming appointment, I anticipate more growth and an increase in health of my hair. I finally have a place to call home....Lady Leo's :)

My hair drama started back in high school when I tried to transition from a Wave Nouveau to a straight hairdo.  My childhood hairdresser was no longer in New York so I had to find someone else.  I went to a Dominican salon and asked for a blow out.  Instead of blowing my hair straight the lady applied a fabulaxer and said my hair would be fine.  A few weeks later, my long, thick, black hair turned brown and began to break.  Every time I washed it there was a burnt smell and eventually my hair got thin.  I had no other choice but to enter the hair braiding and weaving realm.  Braids were fine but I realized they were not going to bring my hair back to life so I stopped going to the African hair braiding salons and began the weaving process at another Dominican salon.  This stylist did a good job at weaving so I decided to stick with her for a while - and a while became a few years.  During that time, she told me she would bring my hair back to the way it used to be but I noticed a pattern; my hair would grow then I'd have to cut it; not trim it but cut it significantly so there wasn't much progress.  This became a cycle so I started to lose hope.  The final straw took place when I went back to her for a treatment and she only applied the treatment to only the middle of my head and around my edges. In other words, she only applied the treatment to the parts where I had natural hair showing and disregarded the weaved portion.  That confirmed she didn't care so I had to go.  I didn't know where I was going but I left.  After carefully scrolling through an online hairstylist directory I found Karen and I'm so thankful that I found her. I've been going to Lady Leo salon for about a year now and I can say there is no better place than this.  During my consultation, she told me my hair had no elasticity and that my edges were withering away.  She then told me everything that needed to be done to repair the damage and applied high quality products, treatment, etc. to my hair and scalp, told me it will be OK and she was right! - Today, I have full elasticity, can see that my hair has come back to life and my edges are growing.  Whether I want to wear my hair out or weave it is now an option and no longer a must.  Thanks for being a true professional and more importantly, thank you for caring, Karen! 

I am amazed by Lady Leo's salon and Karen.  She is a sweet and professional hair stylist.  I always feel appreciated when I enter the doors of her salon.  I have been going there for approx. 1 year and now I can't believe how quickly my hair has grown since then.  My hair not only feels healthier,  but it is thicker and back to "beautiful",  since I've been putting weaves in my hair.  I feel like my confidence in the management fo my hair has been restored.  Thanks Karen for always being real with me.

Since I started going to Lady Leo I have noticed a major change in the growth and attractiveness of my hair.  People have complimented me constantly on the hairstyles that Karen has given to me.  Every time I look in the mirror I just love the results I am getting from Karen's Creativity and skill.  I have thick and soft hair sometimes it is hard to manage, but Karen always takes time to care for my particular hair texture.  I suspect that good hair stylists are hard to discover, but when you find a great one you must hold on tightly. So long as I live in the NY area (and maybe even if I move) I will always go to Karen to get my hair done. In the year since she started doing my hair I receive compliments on my weaves everywhere I go and people think it's my hair! My own hair has grown full, thick and healthy and I could not be happier with her and her service. I never thought to look on Craigslist for a stylist but I was new to Brooklyn and wanted someone close to home....I'm not lucky I'm blessed to have found Karen. She is the greatest!

Upon arrival to the Lady Leo Beauty Salon website, I was amazed and impressed by the work that Karen produced. I was on a search for a salon where I would not feel robbed or cheated while still achieving great quality. I took a chance with Karen when I was in a state of desperation with an all natural afro in need of taming that could suit my busy schedule. I was not a fan of the full head weave and was hesitant to try something new but I was impressed at how Karen was able to make all of her customers, as well as myself, look like a brand new person who was not sporting a cheap stiff wig. It was almost a year ago that Karen graced me with her skill and fabulous styles and to this day I have not only succeeded in finding the look that works well with my needs, I found a professional, talented, patient and understanding beautician that I am truly grateful for. The compliments have yet cease and I owe it all to Karen and would gladly recommend her to anyone who is searching for that motivational experience provided by her comb and curling iron.

When I decided to transition to natural, I spent the first 4 months varying between textured styles and wash and sets. As my hair grew and became more challenging to wear fabulously, I decided to get a weave. Through this process, Karen has been very informative and supportive in maintaining my hair's health, helping me to choose gorgeous styles, and planning the my complete transition.  Karen is a master stylist and technician and I am loving my look!

I have know Karren for about 13 yrs she is an arsist and her canvas is hair we have gone from long to short ponytails and weaves whatever it is you desire you can sit in her chair with the utmost confidence that you are going to leave looking fabulous and seeing that the vision you had in your mind has now been brought to life. I'm here to stay. Karren is also great with kids my daughter has been going to her from 2 yrs old and would not let other person touch her hair. Since moving to new york in 2006, I have faithfully traveled back to my hometown of philadelphia every 4 weeks to get my hair done.  It was something that I was committed to doing and almost like a second job.  Towards the end of 2009, I decided to go on the search for a hairstylist in new york, who would be able to accomodate my hair weaving needs and desires.  While looking around, I stumbled across Lady Leo Beauty Salon and was surprisingly impressed with Karen's work on the website.  While talking with Karen during my consultaion, I knew right away that I had made a wise decision by coming to Lady Leo and one that I would not regret.  Karen was able to effectively communicate to me what she thought was best to properly treat and care for my hair, while allowing me to share my previous hair care history, which made me more comfortable and confident that this was the place for me to be.  I am abundantly grateful to have found such an phenomenal and humble hairstylist as Karen, who seems to never disappoint!

If you’re looking for someone that can style but most importantly someone that will treat and take care of your hair, Karen is your girl.  My hair started thinning out which left a terrible bald spot on the top of my head.  I’ve tried every hair product imaginable and several beauticians, with no results.  Karen consulted me about how she would be able to get my hair to grow back.  It’s been six months, and my bald area has a lot of new growth.  My hair is growing and is getting thick too.  I am happy again.  My weaves are flawless.  People are always stopping me telling me how nice my hair looks.  I am happy I found Karen.  I will not let anyone else touch my hair ever again.

My hair used to be completely dried out and beyond fragile due to over a year's worth of neglect from my previous hairdresser, who damaged my locks and charged me an arm and a leg to do it.

After a while I finally got fed up and searched for a stylist who would not only make my hair look beautiful, but who truly knew about the fine art of black hair care. That was when I found Ms. Karen. After only a couple of visits I’ve found that my hair is already stronger, thicker, and longer. She is not just a hairdresser who is in it for the money. She really cares about her clients and would never sacrifice their hair to make a buck. I am so happy to have found a true black hair care specialist who I can stay with for many years to come.

I have been going to ms. Karen for a weave for about 6months now. When 
I first came to lady Leo my hair was breaking , shedding, dry and my 
hair was very damage. the first thing ms. Karen did was evaluate my 
hair then she let me know everything her and I need to do for it to 
become healthy again which was treat it every month and grease my 
scalp at least three times a week. I loved the weave that ms. Karen 
put in my hair and since then I've been going to her and my hair have 
grown a whole 7" inches. Thank You ms. Karen
